Research For The Reason Of Congenital Muscular Torticollis (CMT)

tlooto Summary

The study proved that the pathogesis of CMT is related to obstructive vein of SCM directly and showed that the SCM obviously fibrosis, intermyocellular substance hyperplasia, fibroblasts, mitochondria decreased in the muscular cells.

Abstract

Objective To discuss whether the obstructive vein might lead to occur the similar pathological changes of the CMT. Methods 32 dogs (about postnatal one month) were randomly di vided into four groups (all n=8); group A, group B, group C were operated with ligation for exter nal jugular vein in one lateral, as test groups, group D without the operation as control group. One month (group A), two months (group B)and three months (group C) following the operation, we observed that whether the experimental dogs had the cervical bumps occurred, and measured changes of the sternocephalic muscle (SCM) and electromyograhy (EMG). The SCM specimens were dyed by using HE and Mallory methods respectively, the pathological changes of the muscle were checked with Bielschdiwsky-food technique, then it was observed with electromicroscopy. Results EMG of SCM became irregulative in rhythm and had abnormal morphological manifestation, fre quency slowed down, amplitude of oscillatory wave also decreased in static state of the SCM of the test groups as compared with control group. Abnormal EMG occurred in the muscle strongly contraction state. HE staining method and electromicroscopy also showed that the SCM obviously fibrosis, intermyocellular substance hyperplasia, fibroblasts, mitochondria decreased in the muscular cells. Concluslons The findings in our study proved that the pathogesis of CMT is related to obstructive vein of SCM directly.
