Occurrence and development of CIN is associated with cervical HPV infection, number of sex partners, level of education and safe sex, and more attention should be paid to awareness and management of HPV infection.
Abstract
Objective To evaluate the risk factors of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN). Methods Data from gynecologic outpatients pathologically diagnosed as CIN in the 2nd Hospital Affiliated to Wenzhou Medical College during 2002 to 2005 were retrospectively analyzed with univariate and multivariate unconditional logistic regression methods. Results Univariate analysis showed risk factors for CIN included human papilloma virus (HPV) infection of the cervix (OR=9.020),number of sex partners (OR=1.644),level of education (OR=1.585) and sex with multiple partners (OR=1.456),and safe sex was a protective factor (OR=0.235).Multivariate analysis showed cervical HPV infection, number of sex partners, level of education,as well as safe sex,all were fitted to a unconditional logistic regression model for the risk of CIN,with interactive effects. Conclusions Occurrence and development of CIN associated with cervical HPV infection, number of sex partners, level of education and safe sex.More attention should be paid to awareness and management of cervical HPV infection,as well as to health publicity and education and prevention for sexually transmitted diseases.
