Alexander the Great’s Edict for Priene

Alexander the Great granted the inhabitans of Priene, who lived at Naulochon, autonomy, freedom, possession of land, and tax immunity. On the contrary, he confiscated the land of the remaining people forced to pay the tribute. The edict, enacted in 334 BC or later, but published in 284 under the reign of Lysimachus, was placed on Atena Polias’ temple in Priene.
