Th e book would well complement academic monographs, in which a reader could fi nd more detailed information about the historical tragedies that took place in this city, which this book does not cover. While K.u.K Sehnsuchtsort Czernowitz is not an academic monograph, as some of the chapters like “Die Bukowiener” are aimed at att racting a more popular audience, the book does have merit for any scholar looking for an introduction to the urban landscape of Austrian Czernowitz and for any scholar seeking to become acquainted with this fascinating formerly Austrian city in today’s Ukraine.
