Review of Grape and Wine Industry Development in Recent 30 Years of China's Reforming and Opening-up

China's grape and wine industry development over 30 years is reviewed from production, scientific research, education, and regulation, highlighting progress and challenges.
Abstract
The development status of China grape and wine industry in recent 30 years of China's reforming and opening-up are reviewed from 4 respects,including production,scientific research,education and regulation. Conclusions were made as follows:(1) The vineyards is expanded progressively and the grape yield increases fast. However,the proportion of wine grape area is relatively low. Grape varieties for red wines are somewhat limited,about 80% being of Cabernet Sauvignon. (2) Chinese wine industry has gone through 4 stages,including small-scale stage,stead-developing stage,transition-fluctuating stage and accelerated-development stage. Five leading producing regions of Chinese wine production are Jiaodong peninsula,Xinjiang,Changli,Huaizhuo basin,Tianjin and East side of Helan Mountain,accounting for 82.9% of state total output in 2007. (3) An international scientific research platform for grape and wine has been constructed. Lots of research works promoted the quality of grape and wine products and made the industry distribution more scientific and reasonable. (4) High-quality scientific research teams for grape and wine have come into being,providing a large number of professional technicians for the industry. (5) The governments have made a series of relevant rules and regulatory for grape growing and wine making which improved the wine standard,named the original wines and carried out some protection work of geographic indications products,promoting the healthy development of China grape and wine industry.
