tlooto Summary

Polypropylene composites modified with attapulgite grafted by dendrimer-like PAMAM show improved mechanical properties.

Abstract

The ATP-PAMAM nanoparticles were prepared by grafting of polyamidoamine(PAMAM) onto the attapulgite(ATP) particles treated with silane coupling agent, and PP/ATP-PAMAM composites were preprepared via melt blending using ATP-PAMAM as dispersion phase and PP-g-MAH as compatibilizer. The results show that the mechanical properties of PP/ATP-PAMAM composites are much higher than those of PP and PP/ATP nanocomposites, due to the better compatibility of ATP-PAMAM particles with PP matrix.SEM results indicate that the ATP-PAMAM particles are dispersed uniformly in the nanocomposites for the chemical action between the amino-group in ATP-PAMAM and the carboxy group in PP-g-MAH.Notable increasing in crystallization degree of PP in the PP/ATP-PAMAM composite is detrcted for the heterogeneous nucleation was induced by the ATP-PAMAM paeticles.
