The Role of Creativity in Models of Resilience: Theoretical Exploration and Practical Applications

ABSTRACT This exploration reviews current conceptualizations of resilience and creativity, suggesting important links between these two concepts, and offers a modified model for future research and applied clinical interventions. First, the authors examine four main models of resilience. Then, an overview of definitions and characteristics of creativity is presented in light of the resilience paradigm. Finally, an alternative model, which incorporates the role of personal creativity in processes of resilience, is presented with suggestions for practical applications to therapy work and future research.
