Reliability and validity of the Chinese version of CTQ-SF

tlooto Summary

The Chinese version of CTQ-SF is a good psychometric instrument for the evaluation of Chinese childhood abuse, but the physical neglect requires further improvement.

Abstract

Objective To explore the reliability and validity of the Chinese version of Child Trauma Questionnarire-Short Form(CTQ-SF),and to provide a theoretical foundation for its application. Methods A survey was conducted among 1892 teenagers with the Chinese version of CTQ-SF and the reliability and validity of the CTQ-SF were analyzed. Results The total Cronbach's alpha coefficient and split-half reliability of the CTQ-SF were higher than 0.70.The Cronbach's alpha coefficient and split-half reliability of each subscale were higher than 0.60 except physical neglect. The average correlation coefficient was 0.20 and the average correlation coefficient of each subscale ranged from 0.11 to 0.37.The correlation between general scale and subscales ranged from 0.54 to 0.80 with a significant correlation(P0.01).The correlation coefficients between general scale and subscales were more than the correlation coefficients between the subscales. The correlation coefficients between the subscales ranged from 0.18 to 0.50(P0.01 for all).Exploratory factor analyses selected a four-factor solution, accounting for 66.12% of the variance.Factor communalities were higher than 0.40.The four-factors represented all of the items. Conclusion The Chinese version of CTQ-SF is a good psychometric instrument for the evaluation of Chinese childhood abuse. But the physical neglect requires further improvement.
