A Review of Parent-Based Barriers to Parent–Adolescent Communication about Sex and Sexuality: Implications for Sex and Family Educators

Four types of parent-based barriers to communication with adolescents about sex are identified and the Theory of Planned Behavior is used to develop recommendations for how health educators can address them, thereby increasing parent–adolescent sexual health communication.
