Abstract

Abstract Effective instruction brings together students’ prior knowledge, life experiences, interests, passions, and aspirations to help form lasting learning events. Relevancy, interest, choice, and engagement (RICE) are all necessary ingredients for learning activities that stick in the minds of students and lead to transfer of skills and knowledge from the classroom to everyday life.
