Public speaking1 has such great significance that we absolutely cannot ignore it. In China, we regard public speaking as insignificant, as if speakers are merely prattling on about nothing important. So why is there any need to practice it? If, when on the speaker's platform, they speak as if they were around the house, saying whatever comes to mind, discussing irrelevant matters, and do not move a single soul, can this be considered public speaking? Still, we should not blame the speakers, for in the past they had no reason to practice.
