Aedes flavopictus is a mosquito species that has been recently intercepted in Europe and in Japan it co-occurs with Aedes albopictu, a globally invasive mosquito species, which could increase in colder and more platykurtic environments.
Abstract
Highlights • Aedes flavopictus is a mosquito species that has been recently intercepted in Europe.• In Japan Ae flavopictus co-occurs with Aedes albopictus, a globally invasive mosquito species.• Ae. flavopictus was a rare species, but now is common in places where it was absent and Ae. albopictus was present.• Spatially we found Ae. albopictus in locations close to urban land use while Ae. flavopictus preferred land with vegetation.• Ae. flavopictus aquatic abundance could increase in colder and more platykurtic environments.
