Recent advances in the synthesis and application of tris(pyridyl) ligands containing metallic and semimetallic p-block bridgeheads

Abstract This review concerns developments in the coordination chemistry of tris(pyridyl) ligand systems containing metallic and semimetallic p-block element bridgehead atoms in the past decade. While design principles, the synthetic strategies involved, and the structural chemistry of metal complexes of these ligands are the major focus, the applications of these ligands in catalysis, materials and supramolecular chemistry, and as chemical and chiral discrimination reagents are also highlighted.
