Abstract
I am a CNS based in a busy metropolitan emergency center. Over the past year, we have provided care for patients with significant bleeding after falls and other trauma who were taking dabigatran or rivaroxaban. Without an antidote and the ability to reverse anticoagulation, the supportive care for these patients is extremely difficult. Does the benefit of the new oral anticoagulants really outweigh the risks?
