Abstract

We provide detailed description of three larval instars of two ant species namely; Myrmica hecate Weber 1947 and Mymica rupestris Forel 1902. Myrmica rupestris larvae exhibit the “pogonomyrmecoid” body shape which is considered ancestral in the genus Myrmica, whereas M. hecate larvae exhibit the “pheidoloid” shape.
