Korean researchers work across two literatures that do not overlap neatly. KCI-indexed work carries the local context, the policy detail and the Korean-language data that international journals rarely cover; SCIE and SSCI work carries the methods and the comparisons that a Korean paper will be reviewed against. Searching both means switching languages and search conventions, and the terminology does not map cleanly — a concept named one way in Korean scholarship often appears under two or three different English terms. Asking in Korean and receiving answers built from the international literature, with the original papers shown, removes the step where the translation is the bottleneck.
Can I ask in Korean about English-language research?
Yes. The question and the literature do not have to be in the same language, and the sources are shown in the original.
Should I cite KCI papers in an international submission?
When they carry data or context the international literature lacks, yes, and reviewers generally accept it if the relevance is clear.
Why is terminology the hard part?
Concepts named one way in Korean scholarship often appear under several English terms, so keyword search misses work that is directly relevant.
