The reduction of nitro blue tetrazolium (NitroBT) with NADH mediated by phenazine methosulfate (PMS) under aerobic conditions was inhibited upon addition ofsuperoxide dismutase, indicating the involvement of superoxide aninon radical in the reduction of NitroBT.
