A first research project is mostly a lesson in how research is found, not in how it is done. Most of the difficulty is invisible from a classroom: papers use terminology you have not met, important work sits in journals you have never heard of, and the reference list of one good review would take a term to read. What helps is not a shortcut past the reading but a shorter path to the right reading — knowing which five papers matter for your question, and what each of them actually found, so that the time you have goes into understanding them rather than locating them.
How many papers does an undergraduate project need?
Fewer than most people assume, read properly. Five papers you understand beat thirty you skimmed.
How do I find papers when I do not know the terminology?
Start from the substance of your question. Terminology is what makes keyword search hard for beginners, and it is learned from the papers themselves.
Is it cheating to use a tool to find papers?
Finding and summarising is normally fine; submitting generated text usually is not. Check your institution's policy, which will say so explicitly.
